Thanks to Eric, Clare and Chris Price who gave some members and friends of Staunton on Arrow WI such an interesting and worthwhile tour round Moor Court Farm tonight explaining how they grow such wonderful cherries.

Claire introduced our own Diane Sawyer who had stepped in at short notice. Diane gave an interesting talk and very talented demonstration of Encaustic Art. It is an ancient skill but was reinvented in the 1980s. The colour is from beeswax/resin/pigment which is melted by an iron and smoothed onto stiff glossy paper so that it can be moved about. Nibbed tools can be used for drawing shapes and the side of the iron for lines. The wax dries very quickly and is then polished. Vanessa Woodward gave the vote of thanks.
Several members attended the Marches Group Meeting at the Parish Hall Kington, hosted by Kington WI. The entertainment was Matthew Stead, ukelele player and there was plenty of cheese and wine. The evening was a great success.
