President Claire Burton welcomed all including 20 members, 19 guests and our adviser Angela Southwell and Federation Chair Val Lewis.
Alive and Pickin’ played for about 40 minutes which all greatly enjoyed. They play for charity and members contributed individually for the Air Ambulance.
Members contributed some memories of past times and Alison Lord presented some facts and figures about the Staunton on Arrow WI officers 1947 – 2017.
Members and guests drank Pimms and ate a delicious supper. Nancy Owens, who is the longest standing member of the Institute (joined in 1959), cut the splendid cake with Claire Burton; Judy Davies gave the vote of thanks to the committee for all their hard work. Particular thanks going to Gill Busby and Debbie Weaver who had volunteered at the last minute to ice and decorate the cakes made by Marion Cox, due to her removal the previous day.
Alison Lord read a poem about the Institute originally written for the 40th anniversary by Terry Samuels and a birthday toast of Prosecco was drunk.
Claire Burton gave final thanks to all and the evening closed at 9.45 pm.
