Staunton on Arrow WI once again put on an excellent harvest supper for the village on Friday 18 October. Over 45 people attended and had a splendid 3 course meal prepared and served by WI members. There followed a quiz all about puddings and desserts with 3 prizes and a wooden spoon. Very grateful thanks to all who attended and all those who prepared food and helped on the evening. Great teamwork! Airlie Hill runs the Pricklebums Hedgehog Rescue in Ludlow and gave us a very interesting run down on the all the work she does with hedgehogs including their medical treatment and rehabilitation back into the wild. She is extremely busy and receives between 300 and 400 hogs per year to rescue, 90% are returned to the wild. She has been a registered charity since 2018 but has worked with hogs since 2014. If you see a hedgehog out in daylight it probably needs some sort of help. They need to weigh at least 600g before the winter to be able to survive hibernation.
The WI ladies chose to visit The Clive Arms at Ludlow for their monthly lunch date on Wednesday 2nd October.
