Following on from our interesting visit to Envirosort, our evening meeting was to visit some local gardens, including 2 gardens belonging to our own members. We started in Noke Lane at Ann Cleaver's garden, with her lovely pond and tree house. We moved onto the garden of Roland and Liz, further up Noke Lane. They have a lot of land, a garden behind the house (which was originally in front of the house as the road position was changed), a large polytunnel and a second garden on the other side of the road which is a huge vegetable and fruit garden. We learnt all about the organic methods that Roland uses to prevent pests and diseases attacking his crops. After this we moved next door to the garden of Jill and Ian at Chapel Cottage where they also had a large vegetable garden and some lovely shrubs and herbaceous plants. Finally back down to Rhyse Lane and Alison's garden, where we had a tour and then did our WI business accompanied by a glass or two of wine.
My name is Alison and I am the editor of the blog for the Staunton on Arrow WI .
